TITLE: 

The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act and the Individual Investor

 

 

DESCRIPTION:    

Lori Schock, Director of the Office of Investor Education and Advocacy at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will discuss how the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act has changed the landscape for investors since its enactment in July 2010.  Ms. Schock will discuss the new studies and many new rules that the SEC must enforce as a result of the Act.  Ms. Schock will also discuss recent SEC rulemakings and current regulatory decisions.

BIO:

The Office of Investor Education and Advocacy serves individual investors, ensuring that their problems and concerns are known throughout the SEC and are considered when the agency takes action.  Ms. Schock returned to the Commission in 2009 to become the Director of the OIEA and in that capacity, she focuses primarily on investor education initiatives and provides advice on policy matters relating to investor protection.  
Before returning to the Commission, Ms. Schock worked for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s (FINRA’s) Office of Investor Education and the Center for Audit Quality.  She received her Juris Doctorate and Master’s of Taxation from the University of Akron and her Bachelor of Arts from Furman University.
